lust have it! May Unboxing & Review

First off I need to say that I absolutely adored the makeup that was done on the model on the reverse side of this month's info card- it looks absolutely stunning and I want whatever that is to be all over my face. The theme of May's box was 'face focus,' which I got excited about, because I'm obsessing over face products at the moment so it came at the perfect time.

Just a quick note that they've forgone the cute reusable bag that was sent out next week as delivery was delayed. As far as I'm aware, once that issue is resolved, it will return. To make up for that, this month's box also included a $20 gift card.

1. Mary Kay Lip Lacquer in Pink Pagoda ($22/4g)- this comes off as a sheer raspberry with a glossy finish. If you look really closely in the pot, you can see faint magenta shimmer, but it doesn't seem to pick up when I'm wearing it on my lips. It's got a nice slip to it, so it's comfortable to wear, but it was gone after I ate or drank. It comes with a mini retractable lip brush which is super handy, I love loading it up, popping the cap on and throwing it into my purse.

2. Coral Colour Brow Definer Pencil in Dark Brown ($7.95)- I can't get enough of brow products, and I was pleasantly surprised with the texture of this pencil. It's not too waxy or too dry, so it doesn't take a lot of pain and effort to get the colour to come through. It can be a tiny bit patchy if you've got to do multiple passes over the same area, but it's nothing too terrible. I like the shade as well, it's not so warm that you'll end up looking like you've got orange eyebrows. And there's also a handy little brow brush on the lid if you get too carried away.

3. Appelles Rosemary Body Bar ($4.95/100g)- I'm actually not a huge fan of using bar soaps, particularly in the shower, but this one smells lovely. I don't get so much of a rosemary scent on first sniff, it actually kind of reminds me of lemon sweets I used to eat when I was little, which I love. I think this might end up in my closet drawers to make everything smell yummy rather than in the shower!

4. The Cosmetic Kitchen Pure Mineral Blush in Strawberry ($34.95/6g)- when I peeled the sticker off the sifter, I literally had powder flying everywhere which wasn't a pretty sight. I quite like the colour of this for winter, it's like a slightly greyed out mauve without being grey to the point where it'll make you look dirty. The texture was smooth, leaning towards a bit powdery, but the pigmentation was nice. The packaging irks me because it has one of those single twist lids which doesn't feel sturdy, so I can just imagine what would happen if it happened to come loose and/or explode.

5. Sasy n Savy Vitamin Enriched Facial Recovery Masque ($50/100ml)- this is supposed to be a deeply cleansing mask, which sounds amazing after a long week. What confuses me is that the information card states this is ideal for normal to oily skin, while the bottle itself states that it's targeted at normal to dry skin. I'll definitely have to find some time to test this out once exams have finally wrapped up, but I'm interested to see the results- please let me know if you've tried it and what you think!

Total value: $79.85 (+ $20 gift card)

Overall I'm enjoying May's box more than I did April's, as these are products I can definitely see myself using and enjoying.
